If you are a student, or Doing Science proper, you’ll sometimes have to give presentations about research, as a student, mostly in seminars. There are a bunch of ways in which a talk like this can be bad, most obviously, if the content of the talk is rubbish. This is hard to avoid – but some other things really aren’t.

It really annoys me when a talk is avoidably bad, since it is a waste of both the presenters as well as the viewers time, so here’s some easy tricks to help you to at least not give a bad scientific presentation, and possibly even a good one. Note that my literal only qualification here is getting real annoyed at all of the things mentioned here at various different conferences or in seminars, so do feel free to take this with a grain of salt.
