I am Lorenz Diener, 23 years old and from Bad Schönborn, a small town in southern Germany. I’m a third (nearly fourth) semester computer science student at the University of Karlsruhe, and before that I went to school in Wiesloch, and Östringen.

I decided to do this course because im interested in programming, espcially free and open source software, and I use GNAA/Lunix. When I have the time, I enjoy participating in the Demoscene, a collective of people making electronic devices display pretty things. (A bunch of things I helped make can be seen on this page) The other things I’m really interested in besides programming are books, anime and Touhou Project related things, so, yeah, I’m probably a nerd of some sort. (Okay, I also Snowboard whenever I get the chance, but I do not get the chance often, as that requires SNOW and MOUNTAINS, both rare things in my area of residence.)

Concerning Programming, I am able to write relativley fluent in Perl and Java and C and can do C++ and Javascript if I have to, know a bit of PHP and ehem Basic/Visual Basic and Pascal (And probably a bunch of other languages which I am also okay at). I’m also able to write nice (X)HTML and CSS (But am no good at design at all, whee. This website is pretty much the extent of my ability to make a pretty).

Concerning Anime: My favourite anime ever are probably MindGame (And everything else by Studio4C, they’re brilliant), FLCL, Serial Experiments Lain and, more recently, REC. In the last few years, I’ve also come to enjoy other things by studio SHAFT a lot.

I also like to listen to music (Who doesn’t?) and am also sort of able to play the Violin. When I listen to music, I mostly listen to music from the Scene, but Metal, Techno, Classical Music and ocassionally some Nerdcore are not out of the Question.
