Orbital mechanics work differently. Planets don’t loose orbit just from being destroyed, you need to accelerate (or decelerate) them (in almost any direction) for that. The unicorns might well have done that, though it sounded more like partial disintegration to me. And a planet with lost orbit still needs an appreciable fraction of its orbital period (in that case one year) to crash into the sun, if it even does so at all and doesn’t stay on an elliptic orbit, where it can take millenia to get either stabilized or destabilized by the interaction with the other planets.

I like the word ‘defenestrating’, which even has a matching wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defenestration

Posted to: STORY TIME.

Eksopl: That’s incorrect. It’s not nearly the same. Not sure where you heard that (presumably from people from 4chan). Futaba has a lot of moderation.

Nijiura threads are far more interesting (particularly may) than most other boards. I would say Nijiura is better than 2ch, but I’m still not an active enough participant.

Posted to: Attention everyone, I have used science.

Eksopl: Futaba does indeed have moderators, many of them. Some of the boards get a lot less care and attention than others, unfortunately.

I think the big difference isn’t a question of if* it’s moderated, so much as *how it’s moderated. Seeing the effects of moderation is rare in comparison - there’s no (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST) silliness; that came from Something Awful, which has a much different mentality than Futaba. Namely, there’s much more focus on “there are moderators” and consequently on “we can annoy the moderators”.

Though that’s just how I see it as an outside observer. Would be nice to find someone who actively participates on both to get a proper comparison.

Posted to: Attention everyone, I have used science.
